Source of the incense formula
The Seven-Treasure Lotus Incense formula was presented during the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang by a renowned monk from the Western Regions. The emperor cherished it deeply and bestowed upon it the name “Seven-Treasure Lotus Incense,” symbolizing the offering of seven treasures in reverence to the Buddha. This incense was specially prepared by Emperor Wu for the “Liang-Huang Treasure Repentance” ceremony dedicated to his first consort, Lady Xi, and has long been regarded as a treasured item for both home use and spiritual practice.
